Dr. Murray MacTavish

Biography

Dr. MacTavish is the Associate Professor of Leadership and International Development in the School of Business. He joined the TWU faculty in 2007 with a Doctor of Philosophy degree from The Pennsylvania State University. He has been teaching in undergraduate and graduate level programs since 1991, and has been a guest lecturer in Haiti, Australia, Indonesia, Korea and China.

Dr. MacTavish has travelled in 38 countries, including 55 times to China, where he has worked in many cities. His areas of research and expertise include: Global Management, Cross-Cultural Leadership, Chinese Leadership and the development of young leaders in China, and Transformational Leader Development.

His interest in the development of values-based leaders across the globe has resulted in a long list of publications and professional conference presentations. He has delivered lectures at many prestigious universities in China (Tianjin U. of Finance and Economics, Peking U., Nanjing U., Chongqing U., Dalian U. of Technology, and Beijing Administrative College). In 2015, Dr. MacTavish was the invited keynote speaker to address Communist Party officials in Beijing on the topic of Leadership in the Internet Age.

During his earlier work in developing entrepreneurial leaders, he co-founded the Chester Entrepreneurship Camps and the Detroit Center for Entrepreneurship.
